Our Staff

Judith Maisel
The Duchess entered the wig business originally by accident. She still had hair at this time and was wearing hair pieces to supplement her own hair. Suddenly, most of her hair disappeared and she decided after looking at wig shops that there must be better wigs around. She went searching and eventually found awesome synthetic wigs that look like human hair, wash overnight, are in beautiful colors, and wonderful styles. So she opened a wig shop in Florida. And three years ago, Judi moved to Asheville, which she loves.

Juanita Roberts
Juanita has more than 20 years experience in Asheville as a hair stylist and cosmetologist. She also cuts our wigs and is always willing to give a gentle shave for anyone losing their hair—we never charge for this service.

Betty Nokes
Through our angel Betty, we offer free shaving services for people losing their hair and needing their head shaved. We help make a possibly traumatic experience enjoyable instead. Bring your friends for a head-shaving party. We’re gentle.

Michele Kilgore
Coming soon … we have a new massage therapist who has special interest in helping patients who are being treated for cancer as well as working with cancer survivors.

Kricket Wren
Kricket feels that everyone should feel like a goddess and wraps you in her organic potions. Her body wraps are: essential oil, herbal infusion, honey, and chocolate sugar scrub with body butter. She is also our resident tarot card reader for the twice-monthly wine and cheese parties (see calendar for more info on upcoming events).

Carolyn Young
Carolyn is a professional bra fitter who has a small bra boutique here and will do amazing things for your bust line.

Scott Schaeffer
Scott worked for many years as a hair dresser, barber, and wig pro in Florida with the Duchess, and we are very blessed to have him. He loves both women and wigs and cuts like a dream … plus he’s very funny.
